In Missouri, most vehicles are required to pass a state safety inspection to ensure they meet minimum safety standards before being registered or renewed. These inspections are designed to keep drivers safe and vehicles roadworthy.

Who Needs One?

Vehicles over 10 years old or with over 150,000 miles must be inspected biennially (every 2 years) before registration renewal.

Vehicles bought or sold by private party often require an inspection before the title can be transferred.
